Communicating with Your Customers

Taking a considered approach to reducing your environmental impact and encouraging a better use of transport can also help you to increase your customer base.

It is important that your customers see that you are committed to encouraging sustainable travel and the benefits that it brings to all.

There is a growing awareness of environmental issues and customers, investors and other stakeholders are increasingly looking to deal with businesses that have good environmental credentials.

When communicating with customers, focus on the following key messages, the benefits of which impact on your customers:

  • Increased productivity – more efficient business both in terms of costs and use of time.
  • Improved delivery and access – through the improvement of traffic congestion around site.
  • Improved staff recruitment and retention – well respected, responsible employer who looks after its employees, who offers a nice place to work and is concerned about the health and wellbeing of its employees.
  • Strong environmental credentials – working with an organisation who takes responsibility for its impact on the local environment.
