Take a look at the calendar of events and key dates below.  When thinking about planning and running your own travel planning initiatives, it is a good idea to piggy back onto key events taking place throughout the year. 

2021 Calendar of Sustainable Travel Related Events and Key Dates

After the disruption to many of the events in 2020, the calendar for 2021 contains several events dates that still need to be confirmed. As soon as we receive confirmation we will be updating with specific dates.



28th January 2021 - 2pm VIBES webinar.  VIBES webinar at 2pm on 28th January. Scottish Environment Business Awards 2020 - Recognising good environmental practice in 2020.  This webinar will also be a platform to launch VIBES 2021.

26th - 28th January 2021 - Annual ActTravelwise Conference  2021

The theme of the Act TravelWise Annual Conference this year is  'Creating a Blueprint for a Post-Covid World - Local, Connected, Clean & Active'. A The conference will be held in seven sessions over three days from Tuesday 26 January to Thursday 28 January 2021. Registration will open by 1 January.

22nd April 2021 - Earth Day 2021

"Restore Our Earth" as the 2021 theme for Earth Day.

Earth Day Network is a non-profit organization whose mission is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world. Earth Day Network works through a combination of education, public policy, and consumer campaigns.

19th - 30th April 2021 – The Big Pedal  

The UK’s biggest cycle and scoot to school event, by Sustrans to encourage children to cycle to and from school. Schools across the country compete to see who can earn the most points by cycling to school.

 9th - 15th May 2021 – Work Wise Week 2021 

Raising awareness about smarter working (flexible working, home working, remote working) amongst employees and employers. During the week Workwise UK will publish a daily guest blog from strategic partners as well as organisations who shared their thought’s on how COVID-19 has impacted the way we live and work and what the new norm could look like once the economy starts to recover.

17th June 2021 - Clean Air Day 2021

Led by Global Action Plan, Clean Air Day brings together communities, businesses, schools and the health sector to improve public understanding of air pollution, build awareness of how air pollution affects our health and explain the easy actions we can all do to tackle air pollution, helping to protect the environment  and our health.

5th August 2021 – Cycle to Work Day 2021

Cycle to Work Day will be back on Thursday 5th August. This year, it’s all about giving your employees that Love to Ride feeling from now until the big day…

How can my employees take part? Via our free online Love to Ride community, where employees can share their experiences of trying a different commute, and upload their cycle rides for a chance of winning from our bumper haul of prizes.
