Tactran

Tactran is the Regional Transport Partnership for Tayside and Central Scotland.

Tactran works together with the following local authorities:

• Angus Council
• Dundee City Council
• Perth and Kinross Council
• Stirling Council

The Tactran region forms an important "hub" lying at the heart of Scotland's transport network and includes the local authority areas of Angus, Dundee City, Perth & Kinross and Stirling which together make up just under 10% of Scotland’s land mass and nearly 12% of the nation’s population.

Tactran’s vision is to deliver "a transport system, shaped by engagement with its citizens, which helps deliver prosperity and connects communities across the region and beyond, which is socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable and which promotes the health and well-being of all."

Tactran promotes good quality transport and travel information which allows people to make more sustainable travel choices.  Reducing single occupancy car journeys is a key way to reduce congestion, cut pollution and contribute to reductions in emissions.

www.tactranliftshare.com is the website dedicated to lift sharing across Angus, Dundee, Perth and Kinross and Stirling.

Car sharing is an ideal option for Tayside and Central Scotland with its mix of cities and rural settlements. With the large numbers of people commuting to these areas for work and leisure purposes, implementing a car sharing database and website was a natural choice to increase sustainable travel across the region. The Tactran Liftshare scheme, is part of the national Liftshare database and has more than 4,000 members, with good coverage across the region.

Tactran can also offer financial assistance through its Sustainable Travel Grant Scheme

This scheme provides financial assistance to organisations investing in measures aimed at encouraging sustainable travel. The scheme can be used to support physical measures implemented as part of a Travel Plan as well as provide support for organisations actively developing a Travel Plan. The scheme is open to all public sector and not-for-profit organisations in the region. Grants will not exceed £4,000 and will normally be up to a maximum of 50% of any proposal.

Adaptable Tactran Posters and Leaflets
